Laragh Family Support Services: Social Care Manager / Deputy Social Care Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

To manage the centre or assist with managing the Special Emergency
Arrangement centre in accordance with Centre’s Statement of Purpose
and to ensure the maintenance of a safe and caring environment in
accordance with relevant childcare legislation, national standards and
Laragh Family Support Services Policies and Procedures.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* To ensure that all care practices comply with relevant
legislation, National Standards for Children’s Residential Centres
and best practice.
* To actively promote, participate and ensure that there is a high
standard of physical care, hygiene and safety for the children and
young people in our service.
* To manage the unit as to meet as far as possible the expressed
needs of the individual child or young person, and to promote positive
outcomes.
* To participate in the admission process to ensure that the
placement needs of the child are identified and individual placement
plans are in place to meet the identified needs.
* To ensure that placement plans are developed and implemented.
* To attend and contribute to planning meetings, child in care
reviews, management team meetings and other meetings as required to
represent the Centre in a positive manner and where required acting as
an advocate for the child or young person and their families.
* To develop and maintain positive working relationships with family
members, Social Workers, GAL’s, teachers and all other
professionals.
* To carry out regular audits of care, standards and practices
within the home and develop action plans to address any areas which
need attention.
* To develop creative ways to engage in the young people in their
placement planning process.
* To create and develop connections between the centre and the local
community.
* To provide leadership and guidance to all staff members.
* To organise and manage staff on a day-to-day basis in order to
maintain *-hour cover and consistent care
within the centre.
* To complete induction with new staff members so that they can
obtain an understanding of the centre, the young people and their role
and responsibilities.
* To provide professional supervision to staff and complete staff
appraisals in accordance to Laragh Family Support Services Policies
and Procedures.
* To promote a positive culture of learning and development within
the staff team.
* To assist and support staff with report writing.
* To ensure effective communication within the staff team.
* Ensure budget is being adhered to and petty cash is being
completed daily by staff and reviewed by management once a week.
* Create a homely setting for children and young people which is
safe and welcoming.
* Promote high standards of care.
* To Continuously develop your own professional knowledge and skill
base, by attending trainings, courses and supervision.

WORKING HOURS: 

May include evening work as well as unsociable hours will be part of
the job, including waking night and/or sleepover duties. This job

REQUIREMENTS:

Full clean drivers licence, access to car, three written references,
proof of relevant qualification.
